Agrivoltaics/Ecovoltaics

Brownfields
Green Lantern Solar is dedicated to the redevelopment of contaminated sites, known as “brownfields”, turning underutilized and compromised land into productive solar energy installations that support both environmental sustainability and local economic growth. Notable projects include two 500 kW arrays on former Bosch factory parking lots for the Vermont Public Power Supply Authority, generating an estimated 1.75 MWh annually, and our award-winning 500 kW installation at the former St. Albans Air Force Base —recognized in Solar Builder Magazine as the 2023 Community Solar Project of the Year—featuring 1,700 ground-mounted panels producing 892,000 kWh annually.
Reclaimed Mining Sites
At Green Lantern Solar, we recognize the unique opportunities that reclaimed sand and gravel (and other) extraction operations present for integrating solar power. These sites are often ideal for larger-scale solar installations. As extraction areas are depleted and reclaimed, additional lease income from solar allows these non-operating areas to provide a long-term revenue source that supports ongoing operations, offsetting the expense of reclamation and then some.
